This is one of our "must visits" restaurants whenever we're in wine country. The Girl & The Fig is located just off Sonoma Plaza, the historic square in downtown Sonoma. Its quaint décor is inviting, the staff is friendly and experienced, and the drinks and food are always wonderful. Parking is on street, but usually easy to find, and it's walkable from many of the hotels in the area. It's a very popular place, so reservations are suggested. SERVICE: Celeste waited on us during our most recent visit, and she was outstanding, as were all the staff who work so well together to take care of their customers. On a past visit, we were seated outside and didn't really want that location. Our wait staff, and hostesses, worked together to relocate us to an upgraded table inside with no complaints or attitude. Truly great service! DRINKS: Full bar and a very nice wine list, of course. We started with a Fig Manhattan and an Old Fashioned. The Old Fashioned was slightly strong and had lots of small ice cubes which melted down and diluted the taste of the drink. The Fig Manhattan was very tasty, and not too sweet. I've also tried the Fig Fashioned and that was delicious. We usually order a glass of wine with dinner, but you can get bottles, or bring your own. I believe that the corkage fee was $25/bottle unless you also purchase something in house. FOOD: The menu provides choices for everyone, and they always seem to have wonderful daily specials. On our most recent visit, we shared the soup du jour, which happened to be a Cauliflower Soup with a Salsa Verde drizzled on top, and a Duck Liver Mousse appetizer. For entrées, we tried the Smoked Pork Chop with mustard spaetzle and red beets, and the Cassoulet. Both were flavorful, and the Cassoulet was incredibly filling...two people could have shared this. We've also had their fabulous Steak Tartare, which was fantastic, a Kale Soup, the Flat Iron Steak and Frites with the blue cheese butter, and a Smoked Pork Chop with peaches and couscous. We've never had anything that wasn't wonderful. The Girl & The Fig is a wonderful dining experience which I'm sure we'll continue to enjoy for the coming years. I highly recommend you give them a try on your next trip to wine country.

My boyfriend and I were in the area for a wedding and we happened upon The Girl & The Fig, which was walking distance from our hotel. Although we didn't have a reservation, we were seated immediately in the "lounge" area. It would have been an hour and a half wait if we went the table route. Our server was quick and friendly. We both got lavender espresso martinis and a second without lavender (it's $1 less lol). For a starter, we shared the fried green tomatoes- I loved the corn and green sauce to top them off! I had the quiche Lorraine with the side arugula salad. The quiche was perfectly whipped and the side salad was refreshing (topped with Parmesan and lemon). My boyfriend had the omelette of the day and to quote him, "this is the smoothest omelette I've ever had," mmmm butter. I would have given them 5 stars but my only note was that due to the back door being open, a lot of flies came in.

Had a lovely meal on the patio with a great server, Sadat, who gave great recommendations. The wine from Three Sticks paired perfectly with flank steak and dessert. Get there early for a good table.

My favorite dish we had was probably the seared scallops. I came with friends and it was really great. We ordered a bunch of appetizers. Everything total was a little pricey. However, I enjoyed the food and cocktails we got. The blueberry galette was absolutely delicious!! The service was great and our waiter was so kind and gave us great recommendations. In total, it cost $300+ for only three ppl.

Fried green tomatoes: my husband's favorite appetizer Strawberry salad: so creative. Lots of strawberries. I'm a fan of peas and pea shoots. The whipped feta was delicious as well. Steak tartare: the tartare was a canvas for the mustard, pickle, and salt. I love the capers in the tartare Pasta: with morel mushrooms. Gotta be a mushroom lover. This dish was different than the pasta I saw on Yelp because they change the type of mushrooms they use Chicken thigh: skin crisply. Chicken moist. Sides perfect. This was probably my favorite Halibut: I felt it was slightly overcooked but it was still delicious. Pavlova: I'm a ddd as n of pavlovas but I know not everyone is. I liked how the sweet pavlova was balanced by the tarty lemon custard. The pistachio added crunch. Cookies: I thought I made the best chocolate cookies but the cookies here are amazing. It taste like a brown butter chocolate chip cookie. Perfect!

What can I say, the food is delicious. The service is good and the ambience nice. Aside from the steak, scallops and duck, our party also ordered the founder. All of which were tasty. It's just too bad I didn't get a chance to try the dessert. Maybe next time. If you don't want to eat at the bar, I suggest making a reservation is the way to go.

Thomas Keller's fried chicken and The Girl and The Fig have been on my restaurant bucket list for too long now, but with their reservation openings being few and far between, I just could never find the time to go. Oddly enough, we found an opening yesterday for a nice Father's Day brunch! Brunches often carry high prices with them, but be warned, in Napa, this problem definitely worsens. Personally, a measly arugula salad with a few nuts and a sprinkle of dried figs shouldn't touch a $20 price tag, but I guess anything can happen in the Wine Country. In addition to the disappointing salad, we ordered a few other plates to share. The croque madame, complete with the luscious sunny side egg on top, was pretty delicious. The waitress also waxed poetic about their quiche which is allegedly so good that they had to include it on both their brunch and regular menu. The quiche was definitely good with its plush interior and silky mouthfeel, but the crust was a bit soggy. To be honest, between this and a Starbucks egg bite, I'm not sure if there's much discrepancy (not a diss to the egg bite, they're also pretty good). I'll say that the waffle and the salmon tartine were one of the best dishes on the table. I'd probably pick these if you're having a tough time ordering. Overall, pretty decent and pretty pricey. I might come again when my next paycheck rolls in, but otherwise, I'd say it's a good one and done experience.

We stopped by on a Saturday for an early dinner, was told it's an hour or so wait but luckily we got seated in about 15-20 minutes. Tried the duck liver mousse, wild flounder meunière, and duck confit. Duck liver mousse came with apple butter, and brioche toasts. There's a good balance between the sweetness from apple butter and the umami from the duck liver. And you can ask for more brioche toasts. Wild flounder was very tender but I found it a little too oily with the amount lemon-caper brown butter added. Duck confit was tasty. There were two legs, duck fat potatoes, fava beans, caramelized onions, and pickled mustard seed on top of the legs. Cute restaurant
